Art direction

What is Art direction?
Art direction is about deciding what something should look, feel and sound like — and making sure all those decisions add up to something coherent.
It’s the bit between the idea and the finished thing. The thinking behind the visual choices. The decisions about imagery, typography, colour, layout, tone and all the details that make a piece of work feel like it belongs together.
Good art direction gives a project a point of view. It makes the work distinctive without making it complicated, and gives everyone involved a clear idea of what they’re trying to achieve.
It’s not about making everything look the same. It’s about knowing what to keep, what to lose and where to push things a little further.
